I'm not sure that's the case ... from what I've seen, jsp's and
servelet's are basically CGI applications ... just with a richer feature
set.  They still use the same basic functions as CGI programs.

I'm pretty sure that the standard environment variables are available
... but there are better ways to access them using the language features.

I could be wrong though.
