Peter,

I always code this because it can bite you in the butt if you don't.
Also, if you call programs from Net.Data that manipulate the connection,
make sure that those programs set the connection back to the local
database before they end or you'll hose Net.Data and have to restart the
HTTP server to recover.

Subject: [WEB400] Net.Data and DATABASE

Hi list!

I have two iSeries and I am moving a group of CGIs from one box to the
other. On these ones, the DATABASE is hardcoded "MY_BOX", meaning the
local iSeries. I thought just at the time we place all the CGI sources
on
"THEIR_BOX", to change the DATABASE value to be "THEIR_BOX" but here is
the challenge (at least for me). We want to automatically refer to the
default relational database, so if the source is in the local machine,
DATABASE will be reading MY_BOX and if the source runs in the second
box,
it will read from "THEIR_BOX". Does it make any sense?

Then, I start digging for information and found this in the book":
"OS/400 operating system: This variable is optional. Net.Data, by
default,
specifies DATABASE="*LOCAL"; the DTW_SQL language environment uses the
local relational database directory entry."

Does this means that I do not need to specify this statement on the CGIs

and I will be able to use this source on both machines without
specifying
anything in the code?

Any help will be appreciated. Best regards and great weekend...
