I am doing this on a pc workstation with apache (Windows, Apache MySQL and
PHP--AKA -->WAMP) server. PHP does have an AS/400 version available and I was
going to give it a try when I had some free time (yah, right) to experiment.

PHP is getting to be a pretty popular solution to the other expensive (M$)
solutions out there....can't beat the price: $0.00

Have you installed PHP on the AS/400 or are you doing this on a PC?
