Ken

Many thanks for your continued help.

I inserted your code in my page and it wrote

undefined

in the page.

It did not object to ('AFIELD.007-016')

I have to confess that, with my very limited experience of Javascript (just over the weekend), I don't understand what your code is trying to do.

It has an "if" yet no conditional operator. What does the

(document.getElementsByName)

before the first brace do?

Many thanks

Rob

Here's a piece of Javascript I found...

<script language="JavaScript"><!--
if (document.getElementsByName) {
var metaArray = document.getElementsByName('AFIELD.007-016');
for (var i=0; i<metaArray.length; i++) {
document.write(metaArray[i].content + '<br>');
}
}
//--></script>

It does a nice job of showing the use of the array of objects retrieved with
document.getElementsByName and further shows that the object has properties.
