I'll either have to give in and use JavaScript or change the
design I guess.  Sigh.
Frames aren't that bad; JavaScript helps with those, too.

When you give in, and choose JavaScript, there's something ready that's
sort of a "supported" tool. (There's documentation, mailing list for help.)

http://www.bosrup.com/web/overlib/ which was around before.

It isn't hard to integrate and claims to work in MS IE and NS. Checked
Mozilla, works. (Does not work with Opera, but these 2% are used to
sorrow.. ;-)

www.ignite400.org is using one of the above.
