I followed your link to the announcements. Did you miss the following quote?

"If Web serving is a critical aspect of your business, you may want high
availability for your Web Server environment. Highly Available HTTP Server
takes advantage of iSeries Clustering technology and makes it possible to
build a highly available Web site, improving the availability of business
critical Web applications built with Common Gateway Interface (CGI)
programs. This enhancement is only available on the original IBM HTTP
Server."

If you don't mind, rather than pass rumors, how about waiting for a formal
announcement from IBM about their plans for the classic server.

And consider that even when IBM does take a stand, and their customers
disagree, then IBM has a history of getting back in-line (remember the RPG
flipping burgers fiasco).
