Sorry, I agree that "need" is overkill, I meant it more as a strong
recommendation.  We could all still browse the web with Netscrap 3, but we
really "need" MSIE5.5 or better. :-)

I was thinking specifically of using the Tomcat server that comes with the
pbA server.  One must remember that Tomcat was MEANT to run with Apache.
Standalone is fine up to a point, but Tomcat was intended to be an Apache
add-on and so works the best that way.  I certainly don't want to get into a
Websphere debate, but I can promise that as long as I'm in charge around
here we will use Tomcat and NOT Websphere.

What I mean by virtual hosting is having multiple domains, each with their
own unique configuration, but running on the same server instance.  Oh yeah,
they all come into the same port number and all of these are managed in the
same httpd.conf file.  One instance, one conf file, one port, unlimited
domains, unlimited configurations.  This is one of the major reasons Apache
is so popular in the web world (and coming soon to a 400 near you!)
