i have a customer with similar system for remote users to enter orders on an
s10 server.
It's all rpg/cgi. I am using WebSmart to develop the cgi & it seems very
efficient.
So does the latest stuff from www.easy400.ibm.it . For my small machine,
which has
20 local users & 10 or so web users, and a max 512 meg memory, I've put most
of the
memory, 300 meg in batch, a 100 in machine pool and the 20 locals share 100
meg and
are doing ok. Recently changed TCP send/receive buffers to 64000. Was
recommended in
some ibm tcp config stuff. Are you running DNS on 400?. Turn DnsLookup off
if not needed,
in http config. Check your router, hubs, etc for bottlenecks in packet
size.Set your 400 MTU
(in interface config) to *LIND. If you have lots of traffic on your lan see
if you can connect
400 ethernet direct to internet connection (router or firewall). We also are
replacing network hubs
with switches-much faster. Performance also got better when we got disk
utilization down from 80% to
45%.
