Have you checked under preferences General, Perspectives--is 'Remote
System Explorer' marked as your default perspective? it might be helpful
to eliminate that possibility.

Do you by chance have a command line option to open a perspective?

Right click the icon you use to open RDi, then select properties.
In the 'Target' field look at the command. Does it include something
like:
-perspective Remote System Explorer
or some other perspective?
If so, remove that from the command and try again.
