On your colleague's RDi, select Window/Preferences, type block and let us know what the block type is set to.

I've noticed that when it is set to "character", I have issues pasting just like you've mentioned, but when set to "stream" all pastes replace the selection. I'm no expert in this area, but it might give you something to work with. Let us know what you find.

If this doesn't help at all, let us know what version you are using, what the "block type" is set to, *how* you are highlighting your item to replace (double-click a word, mouse-selection, shift-arrows, some other way...) and maybe someone's memory will be jogged.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] replace with paste (ctl-v) doesn't work on co-workers machine... (9.5)

I have a co-worker whose editor only inserts text when we do a ctl-v.
we highlight the text we want replaced in the editor, but it puts the new text at the end of the highlighted text....

it works fine on my machine.....
