The Update Notifier once installed will run once a day (1am if I remember
correctly). If it detects there are new updates, then an icon that looks
like Installation Manager will appear in your system tray letting you know
that there are updates without you having to start IM to check. You can
start it manually any time you like.

Ok I installed it and I have pretty much the same questions as Darren.
I was expecting this to be integrated with RDi. And is there a reason I
should open this program instead of the Installation Manager?

Thanks for that. I didn't know about the optional installation path. So,
now I've installed the Notifier. Does it run automatically somehow, or is
it a separate product that I fire up to check for updates periodically,
kind of like I'm already doing with installation manager?

I did fire it up manually, and it works for that. I guess Notifier somehow
made me think it was integrated with RDi or some other automatic means.

Kurt,

When you start the launchpad executable, the window that appears will list
the Update Notifier under the Optional Installs section. Selecting it will
start the install of Update Notifier.

Without Update Notifier (and if not subscribed to this mailing list), there
are still two menu items in the product that can help. Under Help, there
is a menu item to check for updates to RDi (this actually starts IM and
goes into Update for the package group the product is in), and also a menu
item which takes you to the Fix List document.

Thanks,
Eric

From the Launchpad folder in the disk1 folder?
If so, I only see update.js

Although if it's something separate I probably don't care much to add it
especially if it's not obvious such as Data Studio. Not worth the effort
in me explaining (plus for those on the list, we do get a notification from
you guys which is great).

Kurt,

You can apply the 9.5.0.1 update now or later. If you already have the
permanent license, waiting is fine.

In the Fix List, we do have RFE44592 (Fix Pack and Release auto detection
from within Eclipse IDE). This is accomplished by the Update Notifier that
you can install. It is available from the launchpad from the zip image.

Thanks,
Eric

I could have sworn I saw something when 9.5 came out about RDi checking for
updates. Of course now I go to the fix list and don't really see anything
about that. Did I imagine that?

Also, bummer that the fix pack is just for the trial. Do I need to apply
the update, or if I wait for 9.5.0.2 will I be ok?

Peter,

If you have already installed RDi 9.5 and are not able to get your
permanent license before Nov 9, you can contact the Support team and they
will help you get a bit more time for the trial.

Thanks,
Eric

As by the fixpack description, this will only be useful for those people
who have not installed 9.5 yet:

"Note: to ensure a 60-day trial, the 9.5.0.1 fixpack must be installed at
the same time as 9.5. Otherwise, if you install 9.5 before November 9 and
then update to 9.5.0.1, the trial will still expire November 9. If you
install 9.5 after November 9 and then update to 9.5.0.1, the trial will be
60-days."

Any way to re-enable the 60-day trial if you installed it already? My
trial will expire on 9 November...
