Over on the RPG400 list, there are a few threads discussing the value
proposition of RDi. I don't mention this to encourage anyone here to go
over there to beat a dead horse but, rather, to ask those of you who have
abandoned ADTS how the loss of PDM affected you, if at all.

Me personally? I don't think I've fired up PDM in months. The last
time I did it was because I was working with a developer who chose not
to use RDi. I used to use PDM almost exclusively for 2 things:
Finding source via a search (25, F13) and executing a user-written
command against a subset of objects / members. I personally find
subsetting easier with RDi because I create a filter for each
'project' and add the source into the filter string. At any moment in
time I can instantly see all the source members I needed to touch in
order to implement change X. The same user-written commands I used in
PDM work just fine in RDi. Caveat: I don't use prompting in my
user-written commands. Finding source is about the same in RDi as it
was in PDM. iSphere search is very nice. All the above is my
personal opinion based on my usage. I'm not trying to make a blanket
statement about how anyone else should experience RDi. :-)

I started out with the words 'me personally' because there are some
people in our shop who will never use RDi and thus, we will not
abandon ADTS. One is our computer operator he will use SEU / PDM
pretty much forever. One reason is that we still have sorts -
Reformat Utility. FMTDTA. And his job runs actually issue STRSEU
commands so he can edit the I and O specs according to the
requirements of the job. I could load RDi on his workstation, but I
don't know of an easy way to make a green screen job invoke an RDi
edit session.

So there are some situations which are best served by ADTS.
