Matt,

I have iSeries Navigator 7.1 installed. However, I did some research and found out that there are some PTFs we need to have installed, so maybe that is what is causing the problem I am experiencing.

Thank you for your response,

Doug

If you use RDi you can download the source as a project and then copy your workspace to a thumb drive - then use that on the home machine.

It does seem a little amusing that they won?t let you connect but you can take proprietary material home with you!

If they let you do that, then they should let you get to the license
server.

Not saying there's no value in our proprietary source code, but the primary
concern is keeping malware out of the network for which access to a lot of
financial data is at stake. Having customer data on our fully-encrypted
work desktops is a fireable offense, no warnings. Can't even access the
DB2 database from System i Navigator. (And *that* REALLY sucks.)

I'm still learning all of the security protocols here.

I installed Installation Manager, pointed the repository to:

https://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/com.ibm.rational.developer.ibmi.v91
and was promptly prompted to "Enter a new password for the secure
storage". What is this all about?

BTW when installing the trial and you click on the big blue download

Selecting the former will only download Installation Manager (157 Mb) and
then run that pointing to web repositories which will only download what
you select. If you don't select all of the web stuff it is much smaller
(and faster). This is an enhancement that came into effect this past year.

I *think* the secure storage thing is a way for RDi to store connection
credentials securely. If you are uncomfortable with the idea of
plaintext user / passwords on your PC, enable the secure storage. From
a day-to-day perspective, I don't know it's there.
