Have a look at this wiki page:
http://wiki.midrange.com/index.php/WDSC_tips/MISC#My_code_doesn.27t_display_correctly.

The character codes you are looking at were represented as "strange squares" at one time, and then as invisible characters as operating systems failed to display them. I think they no longer show-up at all in RDi 9.1.1 but I am not sure.

You can use the "right-click|source|hex edit line" context menu option to see the dodgy hex character and change it to a space character instead (Unicode=0020). Not ideal, but if you can't upgrade to newer tools just yet then it is a not-completely-unreasonable workaround.

The LPEX end of this was addressed in APAR SE59530. Upgrade to 9.1.1 and it should be fixed.

Subject:

[WDSCI-L] iSeries Navigator and Rational

I used iSeries Navigator to produce the SQL for a DDS defined file.
I used copy and paste to put the generated SQL statements into a
member in my QSQLSRC file using Rational.

It appears that iSeries Navigator is adding some control character at
the beginning of each line of the generated SQL statements, which
causes cursor issues when editing the member in Rational. The issue is
that the cursor on the line does not seem to follow the physical
cursor on the screen. When I position the screen cursor on the CHAR(
keyword and press Backspace, CHAR( stays as is, but the field name
starts to lose characters.

Does anyone know if there is a setting in iSeries Navigator or
Rational that can be changed to not have the special character be
added (in Navigator), or recognized (in Rational)? Does anyone know if
there a PTF or an APAR that may fix this issue?

Thank you,

Doug
