It works if you do it just right. But I typed 'sync off', and the sources scroll independently, as expected, but now 'sync on' doesn't work.

I'm still skeptical.

I brought up my preferences again, and went to user Commands.
The Class Name does have a pull down.
I pull it down and it does list com.ibm.lpex.samples.SyncCommand

Doug,

Thanks for not following my skepticism. In the past, I could click the
down-arrow and see the available classes. Type this one in and it *does*
still work. Coolness.

My apologies to the list.

Re: [WDSCI-L] Sync command

I just tried this in RDi 9.1.1, and it worked for me.

First I went to Window -> preferences, and expanded LPEX Editor and
selected User Commands.
Then in the 'Name' field i entered 'sync', and the class name I gave is
com.ibm.lpex.samples.SyncCommand.
I pressed the Set button.

Then I opened two source members, and dragged one next to the other.
In the command area I keyed 'sync on', and now when I scroll that
member,
the other scrolls with it.
I can re position the other member and the first (where I entered the
command) does not scroll (expected behavior)
Now I can scroll the first member again and the second scrolls with it.

Wow! That looks like a cool plug-in. The documentation still shows it
available. But the documentation also is for LPEX 4.2.3 and I believer
we're now at 4.2.5. It looks like IBM dropped it from their samples.
Anyway, there's good news and bad news.

The good news?
The documentation includes a link to the source code for the sync
command.

The bad news?
You would essentially have to set it up as a plug in. That's only bad
if
your Java skills are at or less than mine. I can read the source code
and
tell what it's doing, but I don't know that I could do everything
required
to make it work as a plug-in.

More bad news?
They may have dropped it for a reason--e.g., some feature of LPEX is
no
longer compatible. This I don't know.

[WDSCI-L] Sync command

Hi, a few releases of RDi ago I used a sync command in the LPEX
editor that allowed me to hold two sources at their current position
relative to each other. I tried using it today in RDi 9.1.1 and it
doesn’t seem to be working. I used the following commands before;

set commandClass.sync com.ibm.lpex.samples.SyncCommand
sync on

Anyone have any idea why it isn’t working now?
