ESS has always provided the activation kit .jar for download.
The first thing you need to figure out is whether you purchased the
software through the hardware (ESS, eConfig) channel or the software
(Passport Advantage) channel. This may depend on your business partner.

works. How do I get a license for V9.1 when I have a license for V9.0?

You get a new licence for 9.1.
It should have come with the download. Let me correct myself. My
Passport Advantage download included the new licence. I don't know how
ESS is supposed to work and I am ashamed to admit that I have not read
previous posts on this list regarding ESS and 9.1.
