I was about to say the same thing but since Vern has covered it ...

The "Compare with each other" does allow for ignoring whitespace - simply right-click in the resulting display and select that option. You'll find a number of other options on that menu. There is I think a preference to set the default but darned if I know which one it is and I haven't time to try them all.

When in doubt - right click!

Try having a editor window open for a source member. Then go to the Edit
menu and click on the "Compare to a file..." item - this has the red and
yellow stuff.

There is even a button on the toolbar for this - the heavy "delta"
symbol in the group to the right of the macro buttons on the toolbar.

It's not a side-by-side comparison - and the "next change" button won't
find an addition - but the addition IS there in one of the colors -
yellow, I think.

I just tried it - it worked.

All,

I want to revisit compares. As I've stated before I prefer the code400
editor for compares. The nice red and yellow backgrounds really highlight
differences.

In contrast, when I highlight 2 members and say "compare with each other" I
get nothing but gray on white. Because of the way whitespace is handled,
virtually every line is considered a "change." This is absurd.

In looking at Window/Preferences/LPEX editor/Appearance, I see this nifty
display where "Compare added" lines are highlighted in yellow and "Compare
deleted" lines are highlighted in red. Gee, that looks almost like the
code400 editor. So why, when I do a compare, do I not see any colors
whatsoever?

The iSphere compare editor is somewhat better, but everything is still gray
and white.

I must be missing something so basic and fundamental within RDi that I need
to be beaten with a stick.

Rant mode off.
