In Design Screen click on the leftmost toolbar button just above the design area that says "Draw records transparent" when you fly over it.
Then you will be able to see all the records in the current DSPF if you are in "Design Records" mode (radio button on top left) or all the records in the current screen if you are in "Design screens" mode.
Clearly you want the latter. You want to edit the records in the visual context (screen) of writing an output record and EXFMT a subfile control and this information is not in the DDS itself. You accomplish this by telling the tool about this screen, i.e. which records were written in which order.
Select 'Design screen' radio button and on the 'Records' tab add the relevant records and click on 'Draw records transparent'.

Hope this explains not only what to do but why.

Ok, in Design screens, by adding the "overlayed" record, (the record written just before EXFMT of the control rec) I get all three in Preview . . . nice!

I have a subfile "screen" using OVERLAY to show a subfile, control rec and a third record at lines
22-23 using DSPSIZ(24 80 *DS3), MSGLOC(24)

In Screen Designer - Design screens, when I include the third record, Preview shows only that third record and I "loose" the control and subfile records . . .

The control rec takes lines 1-3, the subfile starts at 5 with a 17 row page and ends at column 79,

Is there a way in Design screens to setup so I preview the "screen" the user will see ?
