I do have the 9.0.0.1 service pack intalled but I had a similar problem
without the SP too, and it was random graying out/disabling of the compile
options when right clicking on the source member from a table view. I
opened a PMR and IBM couldn't replicate the problem, but they did supply me
with a fix they thought might help solve the problem - but it did not. (I
did supply them with an extensive list of my config and all my plugins too
to help them diagnose the problem.)

I did notice however that if I don't ever open the perspective associated
with a third party plug in that the compile options are always available.
But as soon as I open that perspective (and use it, I'm not sure of that)
the bug appears.

That plug in I'm referring to is the SQL Explorer, which works quite well
and I really like using it, but if I do, the compile button problem
resurfaces. I've since started using the Data Studio which works well too
but I really like how easy SQL Explorer is to use.
