Dave,

For Turnover, I am actually using the RDP 7.5 plug-in, and works on 8.0/8.5/9.1

So, when you do a DSPPGM, on an object and view the source Creation file, it show the correct source file? I think another company told me that Implementer fixed that problem. Just didn't know when...

Implementer is NOT a bad package, but I love Turnover. Probably because I know most of the set up configurations. I was starting to learn Implementer, and then the company switched to Turnover. Which I was happy, because I have used Turnover previously. I have now been using Turnover for about 21-years.

Glad to hear that Implementer has a plug-in, and that they have probably fixed that source pointer problem! That screen shot was from a home-grown tool that call the api to retrieve the source pointer. But the same as using DSPPGM command...

Funny, we're the opposite. About 7 years ago we went from Turnover to Implementer. We're using Implementer and I don't see it creating objects as you're showing. They do have a plug-in for RDP/RDi, although the current plug-ins are not yet certified for 9.0. I hear that's coming soon.
Nevertheless, I forged ahead, and the current plug-ins work fine for me at 9.0.

Dave,

I happen to use the Change Management software called "Turnover", which has a great plug-in for RDP/RDi.

I have used Implement previously, not a bad package. My only real complain it that it messed up the Source pointers on the object. (DSPPGM) It would say that the object was created from a source-file in temporary Implement library that was deleted...

Sample:

Object Type Library Attr Library Source Member
MCABBARL *PGM PRODOBJ RPGLE IMAGI1S QRPGLESRC MCABBARL

This object was created back in 2004, when we were using Implementer. Note the Source-Library of "IMAGI1S", which was a work-library used by Implementer. It was one reason why we switched to Turnover, among other reasons.

So, two questions on Implementer:
1.) Does it have a plug-in for RDP/RDI?
2.) Have they ever fixed their Source Pointer Problem?

Note, it has been about 7-years since I have used Implementer, but curious...

Of course, I am using Turnover, which does NOT have those two issues.
Otherwise, it seemed like a very good package over all. :)that decision was made about 7-years ago at my employer.

Thanks for any insight you might share!

I use source member filters in the Remote Systems Explorer perspective to group together source members in a "project". They link directly to the server source, so bypass that extra step of promotion with iProjects. With careful and consistent naming of the filters you can keep control of your work history.

Expanding on that, I use multiple connections to the same IBM i (to control library lists) and multiple profiles (to separate old, current and "on hold" projects.)

You don't get to move projects around easily (you need to select the contained source members and operate on them that way) but this is the most comfortable method for me that I've found so far.

I'm always eager to learn of other people's setups.
