I agree that spooled files are not needed, IF the *EVENTF thing works.

But I'm getting just a couple very generic messages that don't point to anything in the source - probably a setting since installing v9, but haven't taken time to work it out yet.

Looking at the spooled file in RSE is helpful - because I know to go to the error list, then drag across a message, then click Find - lather rinse repeat.

I don't normally need to view my spool files. The *EVENTF option during
compile seems to do a fine job of reporting my compile errors, unless the
job blows before the compile even starts, which is somewhat rare for me.
What I'm saying is, aren't spool files kind of redundant?

What would be nice from my viewpoint is an ability to filter the spool
files, perhaps by day printed or maybe only in *RDY .
I have a program set up with a pdm option to just show a day's worth of
spool files. None of the RDp spool file viewers seem to allow that.
iSeries Navigator does.

Thanks,

Spoolfiles can be seen and deleted from under the Spool Files subsystem
nested under your Connection in the Remote Systems Explorer Turnover makes
an even fancier spool file plugin.
