Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but unfortunately there's only one
choice with DDS Design. There's a setting under Windows, Preferences,
-Remote Systems,
--IBM i, and
---DDS Design

You can check, "Always", "Never", or "Prompt" for "Open the associated
perspective when the editor opens." But I've found nowhere that you can
change the associated perspective. Sounds like a possible candidate for
an RFE. However, Susan Gantner did an excellent write-up on working with
the DDS Designer at: http://www.itjungle.com/fhg/fhg032013-story01.html

She now recommends customizing the basic editing perspective and using the
DDS Designer from within that perspective. I followed her suggestions,
tweaked a few things to suit my personal preferences, and now I very happy
having selected the "Never" option for opening the associated perspective.

If you really like having things set up differently when editing DDS
(i.e., screens and printer files), you can customize the standard DDS
Design Perspective and save it.

Re: [WDSCI-L] Change perspective for DDS...

To add to this I already had my IBM i DDS Design perspective open
when I
opened a display. When the window appeared I said yes and the
default DDS
Design perspective opened. I closed the member and reopened it and
this
time said no in the window. The member was opened in my IBM i DDS
Design
perspective. So now it's really just for knowledge and the archives.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi all, I've checked the archives and looked around the preferences
but
can't find what I'm looking for.

When I open a display file (DDS) I see the window "This kind of
editor
is associated with the DDS Design perspective. Do you want to open
this
perspective now?".

I created an IBM i DDS Design perspective. How do I get RDi (V9)
to
open my perspective when I open a DDS?

Thanks,

Rob
