I find that this happens when I press enter for a new line and where I
pressed enter is "near" the top or bottom of the window. I think the
editor is attempting to keep the source where we're working "in the middle
somewhere". It ends up sort of in the middle but not quite but who cares
-- it should not moce AT ALL. All it does is make me drunk, since my eyes
know wgere I was when I pressed enter, but the blank line isn't there
anymore, it moved. It's very disconcerting to have source jumping around
by itself and really irritates the workflow.

I just noticed that it's not happening right now, so I guess I was

it shouldn't be driven by a Preference, so I'll enter a PMR.

Hi Paul,

Slight misunderstanding. The new line always appears within the source
where I said it should insert, the issue is that it shifts the source so
the new line is the 23rd line that appears on the screen. I don't mean
to
say that it inserts it into the 23rd line in the source. In RDP I see
72
lines of code at a time. So if I press enter to get a new line toward
the
bottom of the screen, it shifts the source so the location of the insert
appears mid-screen.

With this version I created a brand new workspace since my last workspace
was migrated through multiple versions of Rational Developer. I've been
clearing my cache constantly too (I keep saving off my workspace after
preference changes so I have a clean default workspace to start from if
the
current one is ever deigned corrupt).

Thanks,
Kurt

Are you saying that everytime you press enter a new line is inserted into
line 23? That is not the behaviour I see! The newline always appears
below
the line I am currently editing. I think you need to try the usual
cleanup
methods we have for RDp (i.e. clearing your caches, creating a new
workspace, etc.), and if it still persists then try reinstalling RDi. If
it
still is a problem after that then raising a PMR is probably the best
option.

Not sure why I said "sometimes." It's always.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] V9.0 Pressing Enter for New Line

Sometimes when pressing Enter for a new line in RPG source, the entire
source I'm looking at shifts on the screen so the new line is the 23rd
line
to appear on screen. This is driving me nutty. Is this a setting I can
turn off, or is it something I'll need to report?
