I've worked with the updated notes from Eric's blog (also in Edmund's note below) for the past hour or two, where I've had to download and install version 1.6.3.1 of installation manager (as the auto update only updates to 1.6.2) and now I am receiving an error in installing RDi 9.0.

I have RDp v8.5 installed in c:\ibm\sdp (and c:\ibm\sdpshared) and installation manager will allow me to install RDi into c:\ibm\sdp90, but I receive the following error
"The following errors were generated while installing.

Repository already exists at file:/C:/IBM/SDPShared/."

I can't find anyway to change the c:\ibm\sdpshared folder in installation manager, so how do I get around this issue?

-Paul.

I recommend reading Eric's blog.
But here is the new news
"Web Installs of RDi V9.0 trial and RD AIX and Linux V9.0 are possible but the standard developerWorks trial pages are not available yet. So, there are some manual steps required temporarily if you do not want to wait for the updates to the developerWorks pages.
1. Install IBM Installation Manager 1.6.3.1. If you have Installation Manager installed already, in File>Preferences go to the 'Updates'
preference page. Make sure that 'Search for Installation Manager updates'
is checked. If you do not have Installation Manager, please see
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24035049
2. Specify the repository for RDi 9.0 or RD AIX and Linux 9.0 in Installation Manager. In Installation Manager, go to the 'Repositories'
preference page. Add a repository. For RDi 9.0, specify
https://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/com.ibm.rational.developer.ibmi.v90
. For RD AIX and Linux 9.0, specify
https://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/com.ibm.rational.developer.aixlinux.v90
.
3. Click 'Install' in Installation Manager. You will be prompted for a user id and password. This is your IBM ID. It is required to be able to install the trial. If you do not have one, you can register for one (they are free) at developerWorks."

There are still changes pending for some of the product web pages but you can do web installs of the RDi 9.0 trial.

Thanks,
Eric

Passport Advantage is updated with the new products now. I don't have details for ESS but it should be orderable now. For both of those, it would be download only. The physical media will not be available for a bit (I can't recall the date for that). The license key center should be able to provide the activation kits now.

I will check on Monday regarding the trial download. Rational released many IDE products today (RAD, RBD, RDz, etc.) which is great for any customers who use the products together but the volume of web site updates takes some time. In the case of RDi and RDAIXLinux, these are 'new'
products so they have a bit more setup involved.

If I recall, when RDP 8.0 came out, the trial version wasn't available for a week or something like that. Customers with Passport Advantage Online are the ones that get access immediately. ESS customers or those who will download the trial and then apply their license have to wait longer.

I just spent close to a year pushing to get our ESS transferred to PPO.
Almost there, but not quickly enough - I'll have to wait for the trial version. Can't wait, too. Fix list looks great.

Hi Eric
So how would customers download the product, if not through the trial page?
Is there some instructions we can give them for downloading, installing and applying the license?

See the following for some of the details of the new releases:
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/blogs/49773f8f-a20d-4816-86f2-44a2d862dbc1/entry/rational_developer_for_i_v9_0_and_rational_developer_for_aix_and_linux_v9_0_are_now_available?lang=en

For RDi 9.0, the Fix List shows the large number of APARs and RFEs
resolved:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27038481

Web pages to download trials will be made available but are not live yet.
License activation kits from previous releases do not work with the 9.0 releases.

Thanks,
Eric
