Hmm. I didn't have an InstallerImage folder. Jerry Kern posted about
having only a launchpad.exe and no launchpad.bat I don't know how, but I
messed up when I unzipped the downloaded image. I re-extracted disk1 and
now the install appears to be running. I'll blame it on a senior moment.

I should be playing soon.

I downloaded the new version of RDi, but I'm having trouble installing

When I try to start the Launchpad program, I end up getting an error
dialog from IExplore.html stating "Failure reading properties files.
If
you are running this program from a UNC path, map the path to a drive
and
start this program again from the mapped drive." I'm not using a UNC
path. My startup path is:
"D:\Download\IBM\RDi\9_0\disk1\launchpad.bat"

I tried running this under my profile (which is a part of the
Administrators group) and right-clicking the application to 'Run as
administrator." I've also tried signing on to the Administrator
account
and doing the right-click and "Run as administrator." Either way, I
get
the same error.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I didn't even get an error; just a command window that flickered on and
off the screen. Being a software guy's worst nightmare :-) I tried
several things. What worked for me was to drill down into disk1, into
the InstallerImage for WIN32 directory. I ran install.exe from there
and it installed the new IBM Installation Manager and the new RDi
9.0.0.0 in a new package group. Made a copy of my 8.5 workspace,
pointed RDi 9 to it and it started right up.

Now playing...
