Hi Frank,

When I tried to update, the system wouldn't let me because the "site wasn't updateable".

So I tried uninstalling, but that gave the same error.

Finally I solved it by reverting to a previous configuration.

But if I now want to re-install and point to the downloaded and unzipped folder, I only get the iSphere for WDSCi 7.0 (v1.1.0), the iSphere (v1.1.1) is not shown.

Peter,

if you want to install a new version of a plugin (All plugins not just
iSphere) there is never the need to deinstall the old version. Just install the new version of the plugin. The old version will automatically be disabled by the installer.

The iSphere project consists of two plugins. The first plugin is the "iSphere" with id "de.taskforce.isphere". This plugin contains the code which is independent from WDSCi 7.0 and RDP 8.0+. The second plugin is the "iSphere for WDSCi 7.0" and the "iSphere for RDP 8.0" with id "de.taskforce.isphere.rse". Those plugins contain the WDSCi 7.0 and RDP 8.0+ specific part. The framework of WDSCi 7.0 and RDP 8.0+ are different. That's the reason, why a plugin developed for WDSCi 7.0 does not run in RDP 8.0.

The change I made for you to run the Binding Directory Editor on a server prior to V6R1M0 related just to the "iSphere" plugin with de.taskforce.isphere. In plugin "iSphere for WDSCi 7.0"
de.taskforce.isphere.rse I have made no change.

The update site on our homepage contains now two plugins with the following versions.

iSphere (1.1.1)
iSphere for WDSCi 7.0 (1.1.0)

Currently you have installed the following plugins on your WDSCi 7.0

iSphere (1.1.0)
iSphere for WDSCi 7.0 (1.1.0)

The installer now sees that the plugin "iSphere for WDSCi 7.0" has already been installed with version 1.1.0. Only the plugin "iSphere" has a new version. Therefore the installer provides you now only the plugin "iSphere (1.1.1)" to install.

Frank

Frank,

Unfortunately I'm having a lot of trouble updating (or de-installing and
re-installing) the plugin. I even had to revert to a previous configuration to uninstall it.

Now if I want to add it, I only see the iSphere plugin (v1.1.0) , not the iSphere RSE plugin (v1.1.1).

Peter,

i have solved your problem. Download the new version 1.1.1 of iSphere and install it.

On your server execute the following command.

CRTDTAARA DTAARA(QGPL/ISPHERE) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(6) VALUE('V5R3M0')
TEXT('iSphere')

The data area specifies the installed version of the OS. There are other ways to retrieve the installed OS on the server but all other ways require special authorities to the user profile you are working with the RSE. To avoid problems with the authority when retrieving the installed OS i have choosen the way with the data area in library QGPL.

The creation of the data area is only necessary, if on the server is not at least V6R1M0 installed.

Let me know, if it now works.

Frank
