Jim,

It seems to me that overall RDP 8.0.3 is much more reliable. I personally recommend staying on that version...

My issue with RDP 8.5.1 has been debugging jobs, and minor memory leaks. Where I just need to restart RDP to resolve. For actual coding, RDP 8.5.1 seems pretty good. But, I have to monitor memory usage...

I have to revert back to RDP 8.0.3 myself many times. I am very glad that I didn't UNISTALL IT. It has been a life saver...

I try to push my fellow Developers to expand their knowledge, and use RDP. But at any blow up, I get "That is why I use SEU, it does NOT EVER LOCK-UP"... <Big Frown>

Plus RDP take quite a while to get use to the navigation. That is the biggest complaint, when I try to ask Developers to use. And they revert back to SEU. <Frown>

Out of approx. 13 developers, only 4 use RDP. And only approx. 2 of 4 use it "full-time" mostly, which includes myself. My other co-worker who uses RDP half time has reverted back to RDP 8.0.3.

I have grown to hate SEU, when compared to RDP. But, it does need ROCK-SOLID. Especially for NEWBIES, because otherwise, they will say, "See, that is why I use SEU, I don't have problem with SEU..." <frown>

The SEP (Service Entry Points) Debug on RDP 8.5.1 seems to be reliable, however. :)

Subject: [WDSCI-L] RDP issues: Should I upgrade from 8,0,3?

Based on the running list of what appear to be features that work at
8.0.3 that have troubles or disappear in later versions should I be recommending my customers upgrade? My tendency is to hold off at this point because many of them are relatively new to the product and I don't want to cause harm that could alter their currently positive view.

I don't personally push RDP to a point where it breaks so I don't think any of these issues would matter to me much, but my customers would push it quite a bit harder.

Thoughts?
