Just a couple of thoughts...

There should be no problem with installing into the default directories
so long as the installer is run with elevated authority (right-click > Run
As Administrator). This is true for running IBM Installation Manager to
install, update, modify or license the product install or when running the
product to install 3rd party plugins. I run both the 32 bit and 64 bit
versions of RDP on Win 7 64 bit in all sorts of funky ways and it seems
fine. I installed using an id that was part of the Administrators group
and did the installs, etc using Run-As-Administrator as well. I just run
the product without the additional authority and all seems fine.

To diagnose possible hangs when running RDP you may wish to review this
document:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21455007
It would be helpful to know what lead up to the hang, what other plugins
(if any) are installed, etc.

Did you install it to the default paths? If so, you're dealing with
a "virtualized directory path" issue. The recommendation is to
install the package group and workspaces into a root level
directory. I call mine c:\IBM...

No clue as to why but I have the same issue but I'm on Win 7 64-bit (not

that it should matter) but the version of Eclipse changed between those

versions of WDSC & RDp so perhaps that's at least part of the problem.

I'm running RDi V8.5 on Win7-Pro (32bit) and it seems to be quite
unstable.
It frequently just hangs and the resource monitor shows Javaw.exe is not
responding. Another of my programmers has experienced similar
dissatisfaction with V8.0.

Anyone with any ideas of why this build is less stable than WDSCi V7 ?
