You should be able to add the variable for viewing. Here's how.

If you do not have the Monitors view open, click Window, Show View, and see if Monitors is in the list. If not, select Other, and you'll find the Monitors view under Debug.

Then you can add a variable one of two ways: You can click the green + sign near the right of the view and add a variable name that way, or right click in the open area of the view and select Monitor Expression, and add a variable name that way. The variable name will now appear in the view and will update with the latest value as you step through.

BTW, if the + isn't selectable, make sure in the Debug view you are viewing the stack in a Tree view, not a Breadcrumb view. (I've reported this as a bug and I believe it should be fixed at some point in the future if it hasn't already been.) To make sure it's in the Tree view, on the Debug view, click the drop down arrow in the upper right corner of that view and select Layout, Tree.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] View variables in CL during debug

I'm trying to debug a CLLE program that runs in batch. I set the service entry point and the debug session starts up just fine when the program runs, but I don't know how to view the value of the variables in the program as I step through it. In RPGLE I can just hover over the variable and it displays the value for me but that isn't working in 8.0.3 or 8.5. The variables tab in the debug perspective just says "local variables". What's the trick?
