Pete,

I am not an expert on all the licensing options. My understanding is that
the Fixed Term License would be cheaper initially. But after a couple of
years of paying the Fixed Term License, it would cost more than the
Authorized User License plus a couple of years of SWMA.

Thanks,
Eric

That much I gathered. But if you are paying SWMA every year on every
license it really doesn't make a difference. If you buy the *new*
expiring type of license every year the savings is substantial, the end
result is the same: You are current on RDP.

I have never really understood the (ir)-Rational pricing. Ever since
since the developer tools were "unbundled" because "that is what the
customers wanted" (!) the Rational side has been the most difficult to
sort through. Guy and gals at Rational with more 000's behind their
salaries than mine must be smarter than I am when it comes to pricing
and renewals....

Thanks for the info.

From what I know, a 'Fixed Term License' is a fairly new option. It
gives
you a 1 year license and after that the product will not start. With the
'Authorized User License', you are paying for a license and 1 year of
support. I think after that first year you only have to pay for SW
subscription. If you bought the Fixed Term License, you would have to
buy
another Fixed Term License (or some other type of license).
