Vern,
I had tried that also, but it did not fix it.
As I said, only running a complie enabled the outline to refresh and be
displayed.

Thanks to all who responded.

The outline is based on a compile listing, so far as I can tell - if you
did a verify, it would also probably make it work.

Hi Paul,
I tried all of those and even copied the source to a new member and then
opened the new member and had the same problem.
The thing that seems to have fixed it was after I submitted a complie.
I tried to refresh the outline after that, and lo and behold, it worked!

I have no idea what the problem was, nor why submitting a compile would
have
fixed it.

Hi,

I've seen that before, but I can't remember where. However, some more
info
might jog my memory...

Does the program load into LPEX fine? (i.e. all the correct colours of
keywords, comments, et al.) Can you use the Find facility to search the
code? Can you verify the program? Can you compile the program?

One thing you might want to try, if you haven't already, is to clear the
caches and reload the source member. The clear cache buttons are on the
following preferences pages: "Window|Preferences|Remote Systems|File
Cache"
and "Window|Preferences|Remote Systems|IBM i|Cache" (These are RDP v8
preferences sections, but I think the older versions were in similar
places
in case someone else is having similar problems with a different version
of
the tool.)

Hope you find a cause as I would be interested in the answer too.

Paul.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Problem with Outline View - RDp 8.0.3

I have a program (SQLRPGLE) that I can not get the outline to display.
When I click on the refresh button, I get the following error message:
Unable to generate the outline view.

I have no problem creating the Outline View for other programs.

If I copy the program in question to a different name, then open the new
member in LPEX, I receive the same error when attempting to build the
outline for the new source member name.

All suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,
