Hey Jerry,
When I test drove RDP8 at the end of last year I had the same issues you
describe. I couldn't double click a variable and have it show up in
Monitor. Hover would work only some times. And yes, I had the same
issues with centering the debug window on the active line.

Also, on V7 when I have multiple members open in LPEX I can double click
the tab for that source member and it will cover all other source
members... a kind of full screen type thing. I couldn't do this in RDP8.
I usually have 3 or 4 source members side by side on my dual monitors. And
sometimes I want to block out the other code so I can focus on only one
member.

Thanks

Re: [WDSCI-L] RDP 8.0 Debug

"Could you give more details as to what you mean Jerry? Better in what
way? I compile all my code with *SOURCE and have no problems."

Bryce,

I'm glad to hear you aren't having any problems. I did try to import my
7.0.0.8 preferences and workspace into V.8 and that didn't turn out as
desired, and perhaps that may have had some unforeseen effects in the
debug environment.

One of the problems I had when I first migrated to 8.0 was that my
debugger wouldn't center the execution line in the middle of the display
regardless of the settings in the preferences (it would get to the bottom
of the screen and I couldn't see the next line of code without having to
grab the mouse and scroll to see whether I wanted to step and execute the
next line of code). Another annoyance was that I couldn't double click on
a field to add it to the monitor view, nor would hovering over a variable
show it's contents. Those things now seem to work as expected as long as I

remember to compile with *LISTING. There may have been a few others but
it's been awhile since I stumbled/discovered that *LISTING fixed those
things.

I've been reluctant to install V.8 at home on my WIN7 pc which would be a
clean install but I don't want to burn a license unless I can be assured I

won't have to pay for two licenses (and for one user). Which reminds me
that somebody earlier today asked that question but I don't recall seeing
any responses to that inquiry.

Regards, Jerry
