Hi Eric,

As far as I know there isn't any tool to check or fix workspace programs,
sorry.

You could probably use this technique to save off a standard set of
preferences. Though I have seen problems to do with having multiple
profiles in one workspace so I would avoid that if you can. However if
you are going to the trouble of saving just the preferences why not just
create a starter workspace with all the necessary settings defined (be
careful not to save your password in them).

If you are really keen on a tool I would suggest opening a Request For
Enhancement.

Mike,

Could we get some sort of "workspace migration/analysis tool" that could
help up identify workspace problems, and to ease export/import of RSE
customizations? I hate having to tell the developers to "start a new
workspace" when things start acting badly. It would be great to give them
"shop approved" customizations (custom compile commands, support for
third-party plugins, perspective layouts, etc...).

The way this stuff is stored is different in RDp than it was in WDSC so
you can't just copy directories from one version to another and expect
excellent results. What I would do is to backup my workspace (because I
am always paranoid) then just open the WDSC 7 workspace with RDp 8 and it
should migrate all the settings and stuff. One thing that I would watch
for is to not nest the workspaces too deeply in the file system as
problems can occur in Windows with excessive path lengths. In Windows
"excessive" means something like > 256 chars, this problem does not exist
in Linux.

Previously there was a
workspace\RemoteSystemsConnections\user\UserActions\ibm.files400\uda.xml,
I
don't see that in the new version. How do I copy my Custom User Actions to
another developer?

Is this it?
workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.rse.core\profiles\PRF.user_0\PS.useractoins.ibmi-qsys.actions_285331264\node.properties

Can I just copy that file to the other developers workstation in the same
location?

RDP 8 should convert the workspace without any problems.
