Lets try this.
First, make sure you have 'Classic Update' enabled from
Window->Preferences->General->Capabilites

Then, from Help, highlight Software Updates-> and select Manage
Configuration.
Expand the nodes and look for the RSE Extensions.
Is there only one entry?
Does it point to the correct install location?
Is it enabled?

That folder and file do exist for 8.0. For 8.0, it is under C:\Program

It sounds like it might not have been installed into the 8.0 instance.

Try this:
Right click the icon you use to launch RDP 8.0 and select properties.
Get the value for "Start In".
Now explore to that locations.
Do you find a folder called 'links', and within it a file called
'com.softlanding.rse.extensions.link'?

if not, create the folder 'links'.
Then, copy the com.softlanding.rse.extensions.link file from the RSE
extensions folder.
(Mine is found in C:\Program Files\SoftLanding\RSE Extensions)

I don't see the RSE Extensions preference option in 8.0 - it is there
in my 7.5 instance.

From: Doug Davie

In Window->Preferences
Navigate to: Remote Systems->IBM i
You should then see the RSE Extensions preferernce. Select it.
Now you should see an option to "Add RSE Extensions SubSystems to
existing connections by clicking the button".
Try clicking the Add button to see if it will add the subsystems to
your connections.

Thanks for the assistance Doug.

Yes, it is the latest version 7.5.0.20101028.

I currently have both RDP 7.5 and 8.0 trial installed. I installed
the
8.0 trial to a new workspace. OS is Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit on a Core
i7
860 with 8gb RAM.

I did select the 8.0 location when I installed the RSE Extensions.

I see that the RSE Extensions are listed as installed in 8.0, but I
don't see the IBM i subsystems under my connection, nor do I see the

IBM i Editing perspective available.

I should say that I have had minor problems/nuisances with the
overall

product ever since I upgraded to 7.5, so the problem might be with
the

install itself. Minor issues like sometimes I have to double-click
on

the fast-view icons to get a response versus a single-click, the
Work with drop-down in the Object Table view gives me a
java.lang.NullPointerExeption error when I try to select a previous
selection, etc. Nothing to make it completely unusable, just
annoying

at times.

That being said, the RSE Extensions work great in 7.5.

Look in Help->About, then installation details and the Plug-ins tab.
Sort by Provider and look for SoftLanding Systems, Inc.
What is the version you are running?
If it's not 7.5.0.20101028, then you have an old version and should
download the latest.
If you are on that version, then I would need to know more symptoms
to

offer assistance.
