I have installed and played with it on 32-bit Ubuntu 10.4. This is
unsupported and I have noticed several graphic glitches. Your mileage may
vary.

David,

What are the chances of actually getting it running on Ubuntu or other
"unsupported" flavors of Linux?

RD Power v8 will not install or run on a Macintosh. I am a heavy user of
Macs and would (personally) love to do the port, but it is not an
insignificant amount of work. There is a fair bit of non-Java code in RD
Power, the base java support is a different JVM, and the windowing systems
are substantially different. That said, I run basic Eclipse on my Macs and
have no real problem so there is always hope, but there is also a lot of
room for unexpected gotchas.
