Hi All,

I keep getting caught out with this : copying and pasting from a Word
document to LPEX editor. The apostrophe is unreadable with SEU. As I don't
use SEU, I don't find out until it is too late and then the greenscreeners
start complaining.

If I do DSPPFM on the source member, I can see that the apostrophe I
pasted from Word has a Hex value of 3F instead of 7D. I don't suppose
there is something I could tweek in the preferences to stop this from
happening?

Thanks.

Word has the helpful (??) habit of autocorrecting and inserting "smart
quotes", You'd have to turn that off in Word and it would take effect the
next time you insert an apostrophe.

I have Word '07. To turn it off here, click the round button in the top
left corner, then Word Options. Select the Proofing tab and AutoCorrect
Options. Go the "AutoFormat As You Type" tab and uncheck "Straight Quotes
with Smart Quotes" option. There are other options in AutoCorrect that you
might want to look at if you're doing a lot of copying into the host
computer.
