I do not believe the password/auto log on was an issue. I was in the
middle of a password change on the iSeries and Windows networks this
morning. These errors are new as of today.

If I take out the -clean option RDi startups with the default workspace,
if I add it I get the workspace prompt, every time. I even choose the
default workspace with the -clean option to see if that would help, but
it did not.

I think I am just going to attempt to reinstall RDi.

Thanks, Matt

Hi Matt,

I used WF as an example as that is where I saw the problem. However,
anything that throws an exception during start-up of Eclipse prior to
the
workspace selection dialogue showing up can cause it to fail and go to
the
default workspace. So it is not necessarily related to RDi or any
specific
plugin (like Wf). If you fix the password problem or stop the automatic

log-on there does it resolve the problem? I don't think that the key
binding error would case it as I always see errors like that as well and

things work fine.

As far as I know we do not have the Webfacing feature with our version
of RDi. I thought that came with the RDi-SOA version.

As far as errors, the default workspace in C:\Documents and
settings\pgmt\IBM\rationalsdp\.metadata\.log the only thing that shows
are references to key binding conflicts.

In my normal workspace for today, all that is there are references to
the same key binding conflicts and Aldon's plugin that failed to
connect
because of an expired password on a system.

Oh well I guess when I get more time, I will remove and then
re-install
RDi to see if I can get it to work properly.

Thanks, Matt

Hi Matt,

I can appreciate that you would not want to do the -clean thing all
the
time ;-)

My suggestion then would be to look in the .log file and find out what
is
causing a problem at start-up time. In my case it was a WebFacing
project
starting up and trying to get communications started before some
other
dependencies were ready - with a NPE as a result. I believe that
there

may be a fix in the works for that problem but I don't know of a
delivery
release offhand.

Mike, well your suggestion workes but only if the shortcut always
uses
-clean.

Once I remove the option RDi goes back to its own methods.

Got anything else I can try? It takes a looonnnggg time for RDi to
load
up with the -clean option.

Thanks, Matt

I cannot believe I did not try that option yet. Using -clean
solved
the
startup problem.

RDi now prompts for the workspace at startup.

Thanks, Matt

Hi Matt,

Were you able to find a solution to your problem?

I seem to recall a similar problem where an exception at start-up
was
causing the workspace picker not to start (there would be an error
in
the
.log file). To get around it you might try restarting the
workspace
with
-clean. At least that solved the problem in the case where I saw
it
where
another plugin was trying to start RSE too early.

Nope, not the case. One of the first things I looked for when I
noticed
the problem. Below is my current short cut target string...
"C:\IBM\SDP7.5\eclipse.exe -product
com.ibm.etools.iseries.rdi.welcome.ide"

Thanks, Matt

Is it possible that your launch shortcut has specified the
workspace
to
launch? Looks like the command line switch for this is -data.

Rdi will no longer prompt for the workspace I want to load. I
loads
a
default workspace in C:\Documents and Settings\pgmt\IBM.

I set the preference "Prompt for workspace on startup" but that
is
ignored.

If I delete the entire IBM folder reference the product creates
a
new
one for me.

The only way to use the workspace I want it to do a File |
Switch
Workspace.

Anyone seen this issue or have a suggestion to make RDi open the
workspace I want?

Thanks, Matt
