Yes, it is a defect. It is converting a string to an Integer class,
which is limited to 2e31-1 ( = 2147483647)

Going to RDi is not an option at this time.

I'm waiting to hear if there will be a fix for WDSCi given that it's
still under support.

Thanks for doing this Charles! I don't have access to open issues with
IBM any more. I sure wish IBM used a different mechanism for support so
that anyone with a valid copy of WDSC (wouldn't that be anybody?) could
submit a ticket. A FAQ and searchable database of answers wouldn't
hurt, either.
