Eric, to get rid of the flicker you can change the frequency of the monitor to be higher and then it will go away. In Windows XP just right click on the desktop and select Properties, click the Settings tab, select the Advanced button, select the Monitor tab, change the drop down value for the screen refresh rate to be as high as it can be.

Back when I used a CRT I would always get headaches from eye strain until I changed that value to be higher.

Ouch... I'm still stuck on a 17" crt. The last monitor I blew up, I
asked for a FP, but before I could fill out all the paperwork, the boss
told me to use the old spare from one of the empty cubes.... Bummer.....

I've thought about bringing in a spare 19" fp from home, but somehow I
figure that would only cause trouble. I really do understand the need
to pinch pennies in these times, but really....

Good thing we've got a "vision plan" in the health benefits package.
Crank the screen resolution to max, try to ignore the flicker and whine
of a crt being pushed to the limit. <g>
