Not to be a pain or anything, but I think you'd get a better response on JAVA400-L or RPG400-L. It's a little off-topic for the WDSCI list, I think.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] java invoked rpg program: recommended error handling

i've been asked to develop an RPG program that will be invoked from the java
side, a first for me. Now that I'm close to having the program
developed I want to turn my attention to error handling and, or, debug
issues that might arise.

What subsystem will run the rpg program? How is the job name given? How do
we see the job log? Is there a recommended method of error handling and
error logging? Is there an IBM manual that reviews the recommended
techniques? For example I'll be curious to see what values are passed fromt
he java side of things..how would I go about seeing those values? What if
there is an abend of the RPG..where would I go to see those messages? etc.
