Clicking on a member also shows the text in the status bar, at least mine does. If you have the properties view open clicking on a member will update the properties view with the information for that member.

In here I have filters created to show all of the source in the
library (and various other types of filters). The only problem I am
starting to have is that I would like the see the description in
parenthesis right after the source name so I can visually see what the
program is for. Is there an option somewhere to allow this or do I need to put in an enhancement request?

As David points out, there's no standard way to do that. But if you click on a member, you can see the source in the status bar at the bottom of the workbench. Or as Michael suggested, the table view gives you more information, including the text.
