How did we get to a conversation about consulting?

I'm trying to identify how current RPG shops can best get to the web using their current resources. RPG programmers can learn EGL in one training session. They don't even need to learn HTML and CSS to start with. They can drag and drop to paint screens and build applications.

You know what guys? Forget it.

David doesn't like generators, Aaron won't use anything but RPG, and Shannon wants to know how to make money.

None of those issue have anything to do with the future of System i shops. The future is how to provide the best applications for their users at the least cost, and that's EGL. If you disagree, then by all means, recommend your favorite solution to your clients. We'll compare notes in a year. My bet is that you'll have at least one client using EGL.

And if you *don't* go the EGL route, don't blame IBM later. Or me.
