I agree completely. In fact, it was recalling my own CCP/PRUF
experiences that help me get over mental hurdle of web programming (CGI,
in particular). Once I made that connection I was able to explain some
of the concepts to my coworkers. Now these folks have had quite a bit
of experience in programming on the AS/400, iSeries, etc, and at times
it felt as if I was trying to explain how to start a fire with a rock
and flint instead of just using a lighter. But, in the end I could help
them adjust to the new (or old) realities.
