I have found that the first time I start WDSc takes a lot longer than if I am restarting it for some reason. I also experience a significant delay when opening my first source member of the day. I assume that these are caused by WDSc loading the necessary resources.

I have found that ILE RPG syntax checking causes huge delays, so I have disabled mine (Preferences=>Remote Systems=>Remote Systems LPEX Editor=>iSeries Parsers=>ILE RPG).
