Justin, within WDSC click Help->Tutorials Gallery. In the search field enter 'exporting your ear file'. I have used the document with the same name as the search fields with great success.

I have not successfully deployed anything. I tried, using what documentation I could find and my best guess, but have been unsuccessful.

I am now trying to ensure that I am exporting the correct things from EGL. I assume that I need to export the project that ends in "EAR" as an EAR file. Is that correct? Is that the only thing?

If you're uncomfortable with exporting EAR files, I suggest starting out with a simple Hello World web project. Create a web application project (this should create both the web project and the EAR project). Put in a simple JSP and get it working. Then deploy that to your server. Normally, when you export as an EAR, the wizard will help you select the apporpriate EAR project and any web projects associated with it.

Deploy that project and get it working.

Once you've done that and are comfortable with the whole export process, then it's time to move on to your EGL application. The EGL application should look just like another web application, and should be associated with an EAR project. Right click on the EAR project, selet export as EAR, and away you go!
