So, what exactly is the real business deal?
I think the problem is that with all the changes in licensing over the years, it's become quite a shell game. It makes it very hard to plan a budget for software licensing when the licensing doesn't stay the same for more than 1-2 years at a time. Products and features are introduced, moved from this product to that product, and then products (for which the business spends a large chunk of money) get repackaged under a new name, such that the upgrade entitlement under software maintenance no longer applies.
