No, Mark, they aren't unbundling the compilers. They are providing two different options, ILE compilers and "legacy" compilers, including RPG III and what-have-you. Each will cost about the same, and so you'll save considerable cash by using one or the other.

The idea is that it will cost less to be a pure RDi/ILE shop than it will be to be a mixed-mode shop. You now have a financial incentive to move into the future. (And to forestall the complaints, I know that this doesn't work for everyone, but it works for a lot of people, I think.)
