Well, if you and Joe and Aaron can't make headway with them, my
rumblings won't add much. :-)

"We are screwed"

+1 (at least that's the feeling I get)

I've been following this thread and decided to take the wait & see
approach, but a few things I do wonder about keep popping into my head:

1) I still prefer pdm option 55 for compare & merge to the wdsci
equivalent. But if I have to choose either wdsci or pdm/seu, of course I'm
going to go with wdsci simply for the sep debugger. But if seu is no
longer being supported and I/we've paid for it's development up to
whenever Toronto stopped adding enhancements, then why (if IBM isn't
investing in it anymore) can't I still have pdm for the price of the
compiler? How is IBM losing money and what if any investment did Rational
ever have in seu?

2) Will seat licenses of wdsci cost me twice because I want to use it at
work and at home too? And what about using it to connect to both my
production and test systems? Does that imply four licenses? And what if I
want side by side seu pdm option 55 too? Is that 8 licenses?

I'm not really looking for answers to the above questions right now - as
stated I'll wait and see. I love wdsci, and would like to be able to enter
the EGL world too someday. And I believe Rational has a right to earn
money, but I hope this doesn't turn out to be another reason for us
die-hards to have to justify why the i is important enough to warrant
spending nnn dollars, when the CFO sees and hears about all these 'free'
MS tools available. Whenever IBM 'complicates' things (and this
qualifies), the 'deciders' always start looking at alternatives.
