Chenghui,

Thanks for the info!

A couple of other questions,
1) Why didn't IM give up in a reasonable amount of time and just look at the
local repositories?
2) Can I uncheck the "Search service repositories during installation and
updates" checkbox somehow
during the installation of IM when using a response file for a silent install?

Thanks again!
Charles

Once you have added both the WDSC and IM update local
repository to the repositories list, you can disable IM from
searching the IBM update sites by unchecking "Search service
repositories during installation and updates" checkbox in
File->Preferences dialog. IM will then only use the local
repositories.

When there's a new update available, if you allow IM to check
the site, IM will show the new update.

Thanks.

[WDSCI-L] Installation Manager appears to hang when trying to apply
updates from downloaded .ZIP files

All,

I downloaded the .ZIP file updates for WDSCi v7 (and IM itself) and
followed the instructions to add
the local repositories to IM.

When I clicked the Update Products, IM appeared to hang.

After multiple restarts and a couple of reboots, I had a thought....

I went in and configured IM to use our proxy server.

Afterward, the updates went smoothly.

Questions:
1) Why does IM insist on going outside our LAN when local
repositories
have been defined?
2) Can I force it to not go outside our LAN?

IIRC, with v6, it would only look at either the default IBM
site or the
local update site we had
configured. I'd like to set up v7 to work the same way.
Otherwise, I
have to configure all the
developers' IM to go through the proxy. Also, with IM going
to the IBM
site, will it show new updates
that I haven't yet had a chance to test and download to our local
repository? If so, then I'm losing
some of the control we need.

Thanks,

Charles Wilt
