That's exactly what I'm talking about.  A good percent of programmers
are not even using WDSCi...

And a very large number are not using RPG IV, are not using Java or building
web apps or ... What do you think the chances are of moving the community
forward if IBM effectively force even those trying to move to go back to a
green screen?  We might as well pack our bags and go home!

Today adoption numbers in all of the categories above are growing every day.
Since the arrival of V6, WDSC adoption has skyrocketed - the introduction of
V7 _should_ have seen a major surge as the "RPG/CL only" install is just two
CDs and the workbench loads even on a modest 512Mb machine in less than 20
seconds.  

However, at the same time that we should be celebrating the arrival of V7,
IBM effectively tell us that they have pulled a bait and switch and that
what was formally free will now cost you.  If they go ahead with this for
the Advanced version, is there anyone here who seriously believes that they
won't start charging some insane amount for the base WDSC when it is time
for V8?
